Jean Loraine Scurlock

Mrs. Scurlock died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at her home.

She was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Lawrence, the daughter of Louis and Norma Brats. She graduated from Eudora High School in 1939. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from Kansas University in 1943 and a Master of Arts degree in chemistry from Smith College in 1946. She graduated with honors from both universities.

Mrs. Scurlock taught at University of Kansas City, now University of Missouri-Kansas City, from 1946 to 1948; University of Michigan from 1948 to 1949; Junior College of Kansas City from 1957 to 1963; and Longview campus of Metropolitan Community College from 1963 to 1986. She was also a flutist and photographer.

She was a member of Blue Ridge Color Slide Club, Kansas City Color Slide Club, Movie Makers Club and Movie, Slide, Video Club.

She married John Scurlock on Aug. 18, 1946. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann Scurlock, Chicago.
