LHS softball splits pair at SM West

? Lawrence High’s softball team concluded a busy week by splitting a doubleheader Friday at Shawnee Mission West. The Lions lost the first game 4-1, then won the second in eight innings, 2-0.

The first-game loss snapped the team’s four-game winning streak, but LHS coach Reenie Stogsdill said she was glad to see the team bounce back to win the second.

“It would’ve been great to finish the week 6-0,” Stogsdill said, “but I’ll take 5-1 as long as we continue to build from here.”

Rachel Amyx and Amy Bullerman drove in the two decisive runs in the second game. Drew Huff had three hits on the day.

Junior Lisa Pearse picked up the win in the nightcap.

Lawrence (8-8 overall, 5-4 Sunflower League) will play Shawnee Mission South on Tuesday.
