LHS girl swimmers second at SM North

Overland Park — Lawrence High’s girls swimming squad qualified for the state tournament in five events Tuesday at a triangular at Shawnee Mission North.

LHS had teams qualify for state in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays, while Chelsea Dirks-Ham qualified in the 500 free and 100 butterfly, and Melissa Little qualified in the 500 free.

“We are off to a good start, and that’s exciting,” LHS coach Ryan Adams said.

The Lions travel Thursday to SM South for a dual.

LHS boys tennis fifth at Emporia

Emporia — The Lawrence High boys tennis squad was fifth out of six teams Tuesday at a meet at Emporia High.

Jim Ashcraft was the top LHS finisher, placing third in singles.
