Michigan ousts OU

? Michigan hopes a long run in the NIT will help it now — and in the future.

“It’s an invaluable experience for a young ballclub like we have to be able to get into the postseason, and advance,” Michigan coach Tommy Amaker said after the Wolverines beat Oklahoma, 63-52, Monday in the second round of the NIT. “We’re not thinking about what tournament it is.

“It is the postseason and it’s still survive and advance. These guys are playing their hearts out to continue their season.”

Brandon Foust had 14 points and eight rebounds, Lawrence McKenzie scored 10 and Jason Detrick added nine points for the Sooners (20-11).

In other NIT games Monday, it was Hawaii 84, Nebraska 83; Notre Dame 77, Saint Louis 66; and Rutgers 67, West Virginia 64.
