Restaurant missing rive-through headset

Three employees at Steak n Shake, 3111 Nieder Road, are suspected of stealing a drive-through headset and using it to interfere with people’s orders, police say.

“As people order, they’re using foul language over the intercom. They’re also changing people’s orders, things of that nature,” said Sgt. Mike Pattrick, a police spokesman.

The theft happened sometime Monday afternoon, according to a report.

It’s not the only recent incident in Lawrence in which crime collided with the drive-through counter. In December, a drive-through customer helped police foil an armed robbery at Taco John’s, 1626 W. 23rd St.
