Hockett services

Memorial services for Dennis G. Hockett, 57, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. March 14 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Other services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Randall Community Church. Private inurnment will be in Randall Cemetery.

Mr. Hockett died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born May 25, 1946, in Beloit, the son of Gloe and Harriet (Jaske) Hockett. He attended Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina from 1964 to 1966 and worked and went to school in Memphis, Tenn., from 1970 to 1977. From 1981 to 1984 he worked and went to school at the Kansas Technical Institute, where he went from work study programmer/analyst to senior programmer.

Mr. Hockett served with the U.S. Marines in Vietnam. He was a programmer and analyst at Kansas University from 1984 until Feb. 15, 2004. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Astara, Rosicrucian Order, International Graphoanalysis Society, Dowsing Society, Deposession Institute, Theosophical Society and was an ordained minister of healing.

Survivors include three sisters, Marylee Rohla, Wichita, Barbara Tabata, Cambridge, N.Y., and Nyla Slate, Andover; a brother, Richard, El Dorado; and his companion, Gini Newcomb, Raytown, Mo.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
