Cub Scout Pack 3370, chartered to the Deerfield School PTA, had its annual Blue and Gold Banquet Feb. 27 at the school. Rod Zinn made a presentation to the pack on behalf of the Friends of Scouting.

Webelos Mitchell Todd, Steve Norris, Mitch McCune, J.D. Auld and Jeremy Woodhead completed their final advancement requirements and earned the Arrow of Light award in a formal ceremony presided by Cubmaster Rick Werner and Assistant Cubmaster Scott Braden. The Arrow of Light is the highest award a Cub Scout can receive.

Mitch McCune then participated in a “crossing over” ceremony in which he was received into Boy Scout Troop 55. Webelos den leaders Shawn Norris and Amy McFaul also were honored by the membership for their many years of service to pack 3370. New member Nicholas Pippert received his Bobcat badge.

Boy Scout Troop 55, chartered to the West Side Presbyterian Church, participated in two ski events in February.

The Troop spent Feb. 8 skiing at Snow Creek Ski Lodge, near Weston, Mo. Many of the Scouts earned their Snow Sports Merit Badge in downhill skiing or snowboarding. Scouts who attended were Josh Gore, Bryce Baringer, Kevin Cottrell, Michael Rubow, Grady Walker, Andrew Sigler, Bryant Denning, Austin Winn, Will Armstrong, Ted Olson, Kiefer Gibler, Andrew Boyd, David Hanson, Drew Braden, Jacob Christilles, Scott Ollila, Logan Marienau, Wolfgang Johanning, Joseph Vannicola and Willie Frick. They were accompanied by adult leaders Dennis Christilles, Donna Olson, Jeff Sigler, Tom Gore, Deb Vannicola, Connie Braden and Laurie Marienau.

The troop spent Feb. 13-16 on a trip to Eldora Mountain Resort, near Boulder, Colo. Scouts who participated were Willie Frick, Ted Olson, Bryce Baringer, Scott Hird, Andrew Sigler, Austin Winn, Bryant Denning, Grady Walker and Will Armstrong. They were accompanied by adult leaders John Frick, Chris Armstrong, Dale Denning, Rodney Olsen and Rick Hird.

Cub Scout Pack 3059, chartered to the First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence, had its annual Blue and Gold Banquet Feb. 28 at the Hereford House. The following boys earned their Arrow of Light: Ludwig Johanning, Ulrich Johanning, Benjamin Seybert and Adam Wangler. Ludwig Johanning and Ulrich Johanning bridged into Troop 55, which was represented by adult leader George Vogel and Scout Wolfgang Johanning. Benjamin Seybert, Adam Wangler and Travis Shreve bridged into Troop 59, represented by Frank Wright and Jordan Wright.
