Phyllis Helene Martin

? Graveside services for Phyllis Helene Martin, 80, Topeka, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lecompton. A memorial service will be at a later date at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.

Miss Martin died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at Aldersgate Village.

She was born July 18, 1923, in Lecompton, the daughter of Julia Sehon Martin Springer.

Miss Martin grew up in Lecompton and graduated from Lecompton High School in 1941. She graduated from Kansas University in 1945 with a degree in social work, then received a master’s degree in psychology.

She worked for social services in Bellingham, Wash., and returned to Topeka and worked as a psychologist. She retired as chief of social and psychological services at Colmery-O’Neil Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Topeka.

Miss Martin was a member of the Lowman Methodist Church in Topeka.

Survivors include cousins Elaine Taylor, Lawrence, and Barbara Ann Sanford, Lyndon, Wash.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to the Good Samaritan Fund at Aldersgate Village, Lecompton United Methodist Church or the Lecompton Historical Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
