Jean Weishaar

? Mass of Christian Burial for Jean Weishaar, 86, Topeka, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Topeka. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Nortonville.

Mrs. Weishaar died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, in Topeka.

She was born Jan. 12, 1918, in Detroit, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Gamalski) Figlock. She grew up in Detroit.

Mrs. Weishaar lived in Valley Falls and became a member of the Altar Society of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of the P.E.O. Sorority. She later moved to Topeka, where she became a member of Christ the King Church. She was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital for more than 15 years and belonged to several bridge clubs in Valley Falls and Topeka.

She married Joseph Clayton Weishaar on Oct. 21, 1943, in Florence, S.C. He died March 23, 1980.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Atchley, Topeka, and Betsy Kelly and Margaret Peterson, both of Lawrence; a son, Tom Weishaar, New York City; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, Topeka, where family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A parish rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the St. Francis Critical Care Unit, sent in care of the funeral home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road, Topeka 66614.
