Youth outdoors camp slated July 17-22 at Rock Springs

Outdoor Adventure Camp is a six-day summer camp for youths who either enjoy the outdoors or want to learn more about it.

This year’s camp will be July 17-22 at Rock Springs 4-H Center, south of Junction City. It’s open to all 10- to 12-year-olds.

Mornings will be spent on various field trips with instructors, getting a hands-on feel for how wildlife and plants live together.

Afternoons will be spent learning about several general interest areas of the outdoors, including mammals, insects, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles.

In the evenings, participants may be out prowling for owls, stargazing or watching bats gobble bugs. Daily swims are also on the agenda.

A day-trip to the Milford Nature Center and Fish Hatchery will be included. A swimsuit, sleeping gear and clothes for a week are all participants need to bring.

The cost is $215. Space is limited, and the registration deadline is July 15.
