St. Joseph, Mo. ? Mass of Christian Burial for Frances Elizabeth Walsh, 78, St. Joseph, will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Horigan Chapel in St. Joseph. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Atchison, Kan.

Miss Walsh died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at a St. Joseph hospital.

She was born June 22, 1925, in Atchison, the daughter of James J. and Frances Nicholson Walsh. She graduated from Atchison High School and Mount Saint Scholastica College. She received a master’s degree in math from St. Louis University. She had lived in St. Joseph since 1968.

Miss Walsh taught math at Central High School in St. Joseph for more than 20 years before she retired in 1988. She had also worked at H&R Block for 15 years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Alpha Nu Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority and the Runcie Club.

Survivors include a brother, James N. Walsh, Lawrence, Kan.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service in St. Joseph, where a parish rosary will be read at 6:30 p.m. today and family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today.
