Rain to end by evening

Lawrence was having some intermittent showers this afternoon. But dry weather should return by the evening, said Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist.

“Pretty much, it’s all pushing off to the east,” Sayers said. “Thes are just tiny little showers. . . . Tonight it will be dry and mostly cloudy to partly cloudy by the time we wake up tomorrow morning.”

Officially, Lawrence has had 0.58 of an inch of rain since midnight. The city has received 1.17 inches of rain since showers started Wednesday morning, he said.

Through the overnight hours, the temperature will drop off to 71 by Friday morning, he said. Friday will bring partly cloudy skies and very warm temperatures, reaching a high of 92, he said.

There’s also a very slight chance of thunderstorms Friday evening, he said. But there’s a greater chance of rain over the weekend, he said.

The low Saturday morning will be 69, with the high reaching 89, with thunderstorms expected late Saturday night and into Sunday morning, he said. The low Sunday morning will be 69, with the high reaching 82 Sunday afternoon.
