The Tribe of Mic-O-Say, an honorary camping society, recently elevated Jim Peterson to the status of Sachem. As a Sachem, Peterson will sit on the tribal council, which helps guide the organization’s activities and programs. Peterson was first inducted into Mic-O-Say in 1999, while serving as assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 55. He is district commissioner and has served in district leadership as a unit commissioner and a round table commissioner.

The following Scouts and adult leaders will be serving on staff at various Scout camps and reservations this summer:

Bruce Barringer is on junior staff and Jim Peterson on campsite commissioner in Camp Sawmill at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation in Osceola, Mo.

At Camp Lone Star, also at Bartle Scout Reservation, Phillip Wrigley, Brian Workman and Ryan King are serving on the pool staff. Dan Sheely is lake front assistant director. Casey Jones is campsite commissioner, and Tom Volek is Lone Star camp director.

John Armstrong is on staff at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M.

Serving at the Rotary Camp for Scouts with Disabilities in Lee’s Summit, Mo., are Bill Berkowitz and Jack Berkowitz, unit staff. Others on staff are Zack Owen, program staff; Danny Keller, patrol Scoutmaster, and Tom Sheely, camp director.

Boy Scout Troop 55, chartered to Westside Presbyterian Church, attended summer camp at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation July 14-23 in Osceola, Mo. The following boys attended camp: Travis Andregg, Will Armstrong, Andrew Avilla, Matt Avilla, Andrew Boyd, Drew Braden, Brian Cain, Kevin Cottrell, Keith Cowart, Jacob Christilles, Bryant Denning, Willie Frick, Kameron Gibler, Kiefer Gibler, Josh Gore, David Hanson, Sam Hird, Scott Hird, Wolfgang Johanning, Logan Marienau, Adam Meyers, Ted Olson, Scott Ollila, Joe Vannicola, Ben Vogel, Grady Walker, Trey Anderson, David Auld, Tyler Baker, Patrick Cartter, Steven Dalager, Nick Haley, Newt Heston, Cameron Howard, Tyler Hunsaker, Ulrich Johanning, Ludwig Johanning, Elliott Johnson, David Lawrence, Joe Matthews, Mitch McCune, Steve Norris, Alan O’Neal and Justin Robertson. The boys earned 96 merit badges.

These Scouts advanced to new ranks: Ben Vogel and Drew Braden, Life Scout; Kiefer Gibler, Star Scout; Andrew Avilla, Tom-Tom Beater; Keith Cowart, Fire Builder; Micah Clark, Scott Hird, Logan Marienau, Willie Frick, Scott Ollila, Travis Andregg, Grady Walker, Will Armstrong and Bryant Denning, Warriors; Ben Vogel and Drew Braden, Braves; Jacob Christilles, Joe Vannicola, Kameron Gibler, Kevin Cottrell, Josh Gore, Wolfgang Johanning and Ted Olson, Foxman. Assistant Scoutmaster Jason Vannicola was elevated to Keeper of the Sacred Bundle.

The boys were accompanied by Annelee Marsh, who served as this year’s camp Scoutmaster, Jill Baringer, Scott Braden, John Frick, Bob Gibler, Tom Gore, Deb Vannicola, Jason Vannicola, Kris Dalager, Mark Johnson, George Vogel and Laurie Marienau.
