Lowell Stotts Lashbrook

Services for Lowell Stotts Lashbrook, 77, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church of Bonner Springs. Burial will follow in Bonner Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Lashbrook died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

He was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of George Clifford and Mildred Stotts Lashbrook.

Mr. Lashbrook moved to Washington, D.C., when he was 9. He graduated from Western High School in 1944. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Princeton University in 1948. As an Army lieutenant, he served as building officer for the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany, in the last months of the Nazi war criminal trials. Recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict, he worked for the Armed Forces Security Agency in Arlington, Va. He worked in the homes offices of the Acacia Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Washington., D.C., where he eventually became an officer.

He was a member of the Washington Cathedral Choral Society and the Fairfax County Choral Society. He directed the choir for 25 years at Garfield Memorial Christian Church in McLean, Va. While living in Bonner Springs during retirement, he was a member of the Kaw Valley Community Choir and the Lawrence Civic Choir. He was a member of the Bonner Springs Planning and Zoning Commission, Rotary Club and First Christian Church.

He married Janet M. Scott on Sept. 11, 1953. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Roy Clifford, Bonner Springs; a half sister, Becky Ottinger, Raytown, Mo.; a half brother, G. Lynn Lashbrook, Gresham, Ore.; and two grandsons.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs.
