KU schedules final examinations

Final examinations at Kansas University include:

Felon ordered to prison for weapon possession

A Lawrence man has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for illegally having a gun.

A judge on Monday sentenced Travis S. Loeser, 21, to 27 months in prison without parole, followed by two years of supervision after his release.

Loeser admitted in a Nov. 21, 2003, plea that he possessed a rifle in Lawrence. He was disqualified from owning a gun by a 2002 conviction for aggravated battery, according to U.S. Atty. Eric Melgren.

The Lawrence Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.

“River City” interviews Medal of Honor recipient

This week on “River City Weekly,” learn about the World War II heroism that garnered Robert Maxwell the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Maxwell was one of the “living heroes” who visited the dedication ceremonies in 2003 of the Dole Institute of Politics at Kansas University.
