Raiders roll over North Platte, 13-5

? Lawrence’s Raiders seemed poised to make a run in this weekend’s North Platte Invitational after a 13-4 regular-season victory Friday over the host team.

Aaron Madill earned the win — which was shortened to six innings because of the run rule — in the warm-up game for the two-day tournament. He had eight strikeouts.

Brett Lisher led the way for the Raiders, going 3-for-5 with a double and a pair of singles. Jake Hoover was 1-for-4 with the Raiders’ only other extra-base hit, also a double. Ryan Engel had three hits in four at-bats.

Lawrence put the game away with a seven-run sixth inning.

“They’re not a bad team,” Lawrence coach Reggie Christiansen said. “We played pretty well tonight. We pitched well, played defense good late and got some timely hitting. We did some good things.”

The Raiders (23-11) will open tournament play with North Platte at 9:30 this morning and will face Sterling, Colo., at 2:30 this afternoon.
