Ralph Wesley Churchill

Services for Ralph Wesley Churchill, 85, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Warren McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Churchill died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.

He was born Aug. 2, 1918, in Tuscola County, Mich., the son of Warren H. Churchill and Maud Milton.

He graduated from Kingston High School in 1935. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Greenville (Ill.) College in 1943, and a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Ky., in 1948.

Mr. Churchill served as a ministerial worker for the Free Methodist Church in Michigan, Kentucky, Texas and Kansas from 1943 to 1951. He moved to Lawrence in 1951.

He worked as a payroll clerk for FMC until his retirement after 33 years in 1992.

He was a member of Lawrence Free Methodist Church.

He married Ada Mae Engel on October 14, 1940, in Brown City, Mich. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Keith, Wellsville; two daughters, Ralda Wylie, Lecompton, and Rachel Woodbridge, Baldwin; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A son, Wayne, died earlier.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Free Methodist Church or Palliative Care at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, sent in care of the mortuary.
