University Bridge Club announces the winners of its Jan. 24 meeting.

Bud and Bette Lukens, Marian Davis and Virginia Williams were hosts.

Blue winners were Ed Stellmacher, first; Al Smith, second; Karmie Galle, third; Leo Langlois, fourth; and Tom Waller, fifth.

Pink winners were Carol Smith, first; Hazel Stellmacher, second; Willie Stoltenberg, third; Mona Langlois, fourth; and Dottie Miller, fifth.

  • The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met Jan. 21 for its weekly game.

Six and a half tables competed in a stratified game that used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Playing North-South, Barb Hamilton and Bill Hamilton claimed first place in A, B and C. Judy Bevan and John Gilbert finished second in A, B and C. Glenna Herd and Betty Spalsbury finished third in A.

Competing East-West, Olivier Urruty and Dan Osman placed first in A. Helen Huffman and Bob Huffman were second in A and first in B. Harry Talley and Don Daugherty took second in B and first in C.

  • The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Jan. 23. Nine and a half tables competed in a stratified game that used a Rover Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the play.

Sitting North-South, Kent McCullough and Clyde Romer finished first in A. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley claimed second in A and first in B and C. Betty Collier and Patt Radford placed third in A. Klee Zaricky and Shirley Reese placed second in B.

Competing East-West, Madelyn Jenks and Mona Bell claimed first place in A, B and C. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd placed second in A and B. Dave Piro and Paul Heitzman took third in A. Donna Munson and Pat Lombardi placed fourth in A and third in B. Mary Beth Treece and Bobbi McCorkle finished second in C.

  • The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met Monday. Nine pairs competed in a stratified game that used a Howell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Don Bush and Bob Huffman claimed first place in A, B and C. Lois Clark and Russ LaForce took second in A, B and C. James Zhang and Harry Shaffer placed third in B and C.
