Law enforcement report Injury Accidents

A Topeka man suffered minor injuries early Wednesday morning after his vehicle was struck head-on by a sport utility vehicle on U.S. Highway 24. Christopher Smith, 39, Topeka, was transported to St. Francis Health Center, Topeka, where he was treated and released Wednesday night. Ray Gibler, 56, Blue Springs, Mo., the driver of a 2002 GMC Yukon, was headed westbound on U.S. 24 when he swerved to miss a stopped vehicle, striking it and Smith’s vehicle. Gibler and the driver of the stopped vehicle, 33-year-old Daniel Gillaspie, Lawrence, were not injured in the accident.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 23-year-old Lawrence man’s in-law is a suspect in the disappearance of a $1,800 Cannondale bicycle and a class ring, according to a report. The items were taken from the 2500 block of Cranley Court between 7:30 p.m. Sunday and 11:34 p.m. Tuesday.
  • A 46-year-old Lawrence man reported his $2,500 Chevrolet Silverado missing between 3:15 p.m. Monday and 1:59 p.m. Tuesday from the 1600 block of Massachusetts. The suspect is an acquaintance, according to the report.
