Lois Winifred Donahue

? Services for Lois Winifred (Krehbiel) Donahue, 88, Topeka, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Jellison Chapel at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.

Ms. Donahue died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.

She was born Sept. 2, 1915, in Halstead, the daughter of Lucas Peter and Zelta Eugenia (Burrows) Krehbiel. She grew up in Halstead and graduated from Halstead High School in 1932. She attended Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., for two years and earned a degree in the field of medical technology from Kansas University in 1936. She returned to school in 1962 and earned a degree in English education from Emporia State University.

Ms. Donahue worked for the KU Medical Center after earning her first degree. She lived in Emporia from 1949 to 1965 and was a secretary at First United Methodist Church. She moved to Topeka in 1965 and taught at Seaman High School until she retired. She had lived in Topeka Presbyterian Manor since 1997.

She was a member of P.E.O., Chi Omega sorority, Kansas National Education Assn., Kansas Authors Club, Countryside Methodist Church, Unity Fellowship, the Sierra Club, YWCA, and alumni associations for Cottey College, KU and Emporia State.

She married Hayden H. Donahue in 1941 in Augusta, Ga. They divorced in 1946.

Survivors include a son, Patrick H. Donahue, Lawrence; and a brother, Robert H. Krehbiel, Hutchinson.
