Gasper services

No services are planned for Arthur D. “Beezie” Gasper, 77, Lawrence.

Mr. Gasper died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

He was born April 2, 1926, in Wellington, the son of Arthur H. and Beulah M. “Murray” Gasper. He attended Wellington public schools and Kansas University.

Mr. Gasper was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served from 1943 to 1946 as a pharmacist’s mate in the South Pacific.

He was a salesman for Munns Medical Supply in Topeka for 25 years until he retired in 1980.

He was a 50-year member of Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion and Alford-Clarke Post No. 852, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of First Christian Church, Kansas University Alumni Association, former member of Elks Lodge 595 B.P.O.E., and a former assistant Boy Scout leader.

He married Charmaine Y. “Shalley” Wolford on Nov. 5, 1949, in Albuquerque, N.M. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Sally Ann Bozarth, Overland Park; a son, Stephen D. Gasper, Houston; two sisters, Colleene Cox, Fredonia, and Erin Marcus, Lincoln, Neb.; and a granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Humane Society or Hospice in Douglas County, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
