Baugher services
Services for Evelyn Mae McMillen Baugher, 84, Lecompton, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Stull Cemetery.
Mrs. Baugher died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 19, 1919, in Linwood, the daughter of Charles Matthew and Amanda Elizabeth (Gausnel) McMillen. She had lived in Douglas County since 1937.
Mrs. Baugher was a homemaker and taught Sunday school at Kanwaka Hall and Barker Grade School, both in rural Douglas County. She ran the Country Corner grocery store in Kanwaka for several years. She was a member of Kanwaka Goodwill Club, Douglas County Trailriders and Linwood Baptist Church.
She married Sheldon Thomas Baugher on Feb. 10, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo. He died Jan. 27, 1983. A son, Marion Lavon Baugher, died Dec. 18, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Larry Lee Baugher, Lecompton; a daughter, Gloria Mae Ward, Lawrence; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to American Lung Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
