Fannie Marie Dean Fakonas

? Graveside services for Fannie Marie Dean Fakonas, 90, McLouth, Kan., will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Cemetery in Bellefontaine.

Mrs. Fakonas died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Jefferson County Geriatric Center in Winchester, Kan.

She was born March 14, 1913, in Booneville, Ky., the daughter of Daniel Boone and Ida Mary (Nease) Dean.

Mrs. Fakonas received a master’s degree in special education from St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kan. She taught in St. Louis County public schools for many years and in Kansas. She had lived in the McLouth and Winchester areas since she moved from Florrisant in 1997.

She was a member of McLouth United Methodist Church and former member of Bellefontaine United Methodist Church in Florrisant.

She married Homer Gates and they later divorced. She then married Gus Fakonas, who died earlier. A stepson, Andrew Gates, also died earlier.

Survivors include two sisters, Violet Coleman, McLouth, and Ruth Ryan, Las Vegas.
