McClendon arrested on three charges

A former Kansas University running back was booked Saturday afternoon into Douglas County Jail for a dispute that happened Friday.

Harold McClendon, a 23-year-old KU senior from Jacksonville, Fla., was jailed at 12:26 p.m. Saturday on charges of violating a restraining order, battery and misdemeanor theft. He was being held at the jail in lieu of $500 bond.

A call came into the KU Public Safety Office about 5 p.m. Friday, but officers didn’t find McClendon until Saturday, said Capt. Schuyler Bailey, public information officer for the Public Safety Office.

Kansas swimmers finish third at league

Austin, Texas — Kansas University’s swimming and diving team finished in third place Saturday at the Big 12 Conference Championships. The Jayhawks’ score of 503 was 83 points more than fourth-place Nebraska.

The final day was highlighted by two school records. Gina Gnatzig finished the 200 backstroke in fourth place in a time of 1:59.80. The 400 freestyle relay team consisting of Amy Gruber, Ashley Dower, Kim Bolin and Gnatzig placed third at 3:22.39 and broke the previous school record.
