Veritas boys in title game

? What a time to have a career game.

Mark Randtke, a 6-foot-5 sophomore, scored 38 points to propel Veritas Christian past Newton Christian, 67-60, and into the KCAA state championship game.

“They had a 6-4 senior, and Mark just stepped up,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said, “and we just kept getting it in to him, and he was getting the job done.”

The Eagles (9-14) will face Chanute tonight for the title.

“It’s real big,” Bennett said. “One of our goals when we started the season was to win the KCAA state championship, and we’re one game away from doing that.”
