Former Kansas coach to be honored in Atlanta

Former Kansas University football coach Pepper Rodgers recently was selected for induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. Rodgers, a native of Atlanta, will be inducted April 3 at the Macon City Auditorium.

Rodgers coached four seasons (1967-70) in Lawrence and posted an overall record of 20-22. In 1968, he led the Jayhawks to the Big Eight Conference championship and to their second Orange Bowl appearance. He was named the league’s coach of the year after the 1967 season when the team finished second in the Big Eight after winless conference season the year before.

After his stint at KU, Rodgers guided programs at UCLA (1971-73) and Georgia Tech (1974-79).
