The Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers’ Recital will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H. Students who will be performing: Allix Ice, Garrett Frank, Erin Ice, Nolan Frank, Marley Sutter, Addison Frei, Cal Young, Hsin-Yi Pan, Faelan Jacobson, Chelsea Jacobson, Tennery Carttar, Christopher Neal and Andrew Connolly. The students represent the studios of Jennifer Barker, Carol Cook, Sylvia Frank and Sarah Higgins.

  • Several students from Lawrence and Baldwin, who are majoring in education at Washburn University, have been assigned as student teachers at schools for the spring 2004 semester: Erin Easley, Santa Fe Trail High School; Bryan Anderson, Washburn Rural High School; Diana Bailey, Shawnee Heights Elementary School; Shelly Maas, Pleasant Hill Elementary School; Alissa Miklin, Lyman Elementary School; Kirsten Roussel, Topeka High School; Jill Schepmann, Washburn Rural High School; and Annie White-Dressel, Washburn Rural High School.

  • Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas, announced Lawrence students who made honors during the fall 2003 semester. Gina Heck made the scholars and dean’s list by earning a 4.0 grade-point average. Laura King made the dean’s list by earning at least a 3.4 grade-point average.

  • Jeannie Jones, Lawrence, made the fall 2003 dean’s list at Ottawa University, by maintaining at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

  • Katie Franz, Lawrence, received the 21st Century Science Scholarship from Bethel College, North Newton, for the 2004-05 school year. She is a senior at Lawrence High School.

  • Nicole Bellinder, McLouth, received scholarships to study athletic training beginning in fall 2004 at Coffeyville Community College. She is a senior at McLouth High School and the daughter of Brenda and Geoff Kirkendall.

  • Queen of the Holy Rosary School, Overland Park, is updating its alumni mailing list.   • Caitlin Welch, Lawrence, will play the part of Hata in the three-act opera “The Bartered Bride” March 4-6 at Bethel College, North Newton.

  • Vanderbilt University, Nashville, announced area students who made the dean’s list for fall 2003 semester by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average: Paul Epp, Marona Graham-Bailey and Bria DeSalvo, Lawrence.

  • Pamela Rusk, Lawrence, will receive a master’s degree in information management during commencement ceremonies May 9 at Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y.

  • Pittsburg State University announced area students who made honors during the fall 2003 semester.

Garden City Community College announced area students who made fall 2003 honors. Ryan Rowland, Lawrence, made the president’s honor roll by attaining a 4.0 grade-point average. Bijai Jones, Lawrence, made the dean’s honor roll by earning a 3.2-3.99 grade-point average.

  • Tara Capps and William Black, Lawrence, completed their degrees at Wichita State University, Wichita, during the fall 2003 semester.
  • Sushila Shenoy, Lawrence, made the dean’s list for the fall 2003 semester at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute by earning at least a 3.0 grade-point average.
  • Geoffrey Salvatore, Lawrence, received one of the 10 William Danforth Scholarships to study at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo., where he is a freshman. He is a graduate of Free State High School.
  • Jeremiah Thomas, Lawrence, made the fall 2003 semester dean’s list at Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Mo., by earning a 3.5-3.69 grade-point average. He is the son of James and Susan Thomas.
  • Tricia Breer, Lawrence, is one of 43 Washburn University students featured in a special exhibit Feb. 28-April 4 at the Mulvane Art Museum, 17th and Jewell streets in Topeka.
  • Isaac Penny, Lawrence, made the fall 2003 dean’s list at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, by earning at least a 3.0 grade-point average.
  • Jack Negen, Lawrence, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education from Bethel College, St. Paul, Minn., during the fall 2003 semester.
  • Virginia Leritz, Linwood, and Kyle Kelsay, Oskaloosa, made the dean’s list by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average at Avila University, Kansas City, Mo.
  • Chris Bellinder, Lawrence, has been selected as a member of the Luther Balalaika Ensemble, a Russian music ensemble, at Luther College, Decorah, Iowa. He is the son of David and Sonya Bellinder, Lawrence. Bellinder, a 2002 Free State High School graduate, is majoring in biology.
  • Corinne Brinkerhoff, Lawrence, graduated this winter with a master’s degree in television from Boston University.
  • Joanna Beard and Ellen Beard, both of Lawrence, were named to the fall 2003 dean’s list at Sterling College, by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average. They are the daughters of Phil and Eileen Beard.
  • Joel Beard, Lawrence, made the fall 2003 dean’s list at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., by earning at least a 3.75 grade-point average.
