KU undergraduates earn research awards

Kansas University officials have announced winners of 15 undergraduate research awards for the spring semester.

The University Honors Program awards $500 prizes to support independent research done by undergraduate students.

This semester’s winners, hometowns and majors are Shawn McKee, Garden City, biochemistry; Brooke Barrett, Olathe, chemistry; Miriam Wallen, Lindsborg, theater and film; Teresa Brown, Beloit, speech-language-hearing; Timothy Kerr, Haysville, pharmacy; Erin Klager, Wichita, Spanish; Jonathan Power, Wichita, biochemistry; Ellen Quillen, Wichita, biochemistry; Anna Gregory, Topeka, history; Kari Morgan, Topeka, psychology; Matthew Pirotte, Joplin, Mo., history; Kandance Creel, Albuquerque, N.M., psychology; Jeremiah Buettner, Edmond, Okla., anthropology; Kelley Briant, Dallas, mechanical engineering; and Mallory Yund, Bainbridge Island, Wash., theater and film.
