Bottom line

City commissioners will receive a letter from McLouth resident Kevin Brauer, who is seeking an exemption from a building permit moratorium for the area surrounding the abandoned rail corridor in East Lawrence.

Background

Brauer is seeking to build a new three-bedroom home at 917 Ward Ave. Brauer bought the property prior to commissioners establishing the moratorium. He was in the process of applying for a demolition permit to remove a dilapidated house that is on the property when commissioners implemented the moratorium. Commissioners are expected to refer the request to area neighborhood associations for comment.
