Boy Scout Troop 59, chartered to the First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence, had its annual Gleeson Family Farm campout Dec. 10-12. The Scouts designed and built a tower with logs and then used it to play Capture the Flag. They also built a fire to keep warm.

Troop 59 also raised money to purchase gifts for an adopted family during December.

Boy Scout Troop 53, chartered to the First Christian Church of Lawrence, had its annual holiday party at the Indoor Aquatic Center under the leadership of Michael Bennett, senior patrol leader. Nearly all of the Troop’s 60 registered Scouts and 18 trained leaders attended. Scoutmaster Larry Thornton easily won the traditional cannonball contest.

Members of Cub Scout Pack 3059, chartered to the First Presbyterian Church, recently performed Christmas songs for the residents of Drury Place at Alvamar and then enjoyed refreshments afterward with the attendees. Mark Robinson directed the singers, and the accompanist was Laurel Krider.
