Donald Bruce Churchbaugh

Services for Donald Bruce Churchbaugh, 86, rural Baldwin, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.

Mr. Churchbaugh died Dec. 23, 2004, at his daughter’s home in Lawrence.

He was born July 22, 1918, in southern Douglas County, the son of Elmer Edman and Nora Ethel Landis Churchbaugh. He was a lifelong resident of Douglas County.

Mr. Churchbaugh was a farmer and a stockman. He was the fourth generation to farm his family’s Century Farm. Mr. Churchbaugh was a pioneer in soil conservation in Douglas County, and received the Kansas Bankers Soil Conservation Award twice.

He married Freda Aileen Barnhart on Feb. 14, 1938, in southern Douglas County. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Janet Grant, Lawrence, and Connie Hey, Baldwin; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
