Reavis services

Services for Barbara C. Reavis, 53, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.

Mrs. Reavis died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.

She was born May 27, 1951, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Florence Taylor Brown. She was a former resident of Lawrence. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in public administration from Washburn University in 2002.

She worked as a work force policy liaison for the Department of Commerce in Topeka. She formerly served for 11 years as executive director for Douglas County United Way in Lawrence. She was a member of Douglas County Community Foundation and a board member of Shelters Inc. She was the former director of Women’s Transitional Care Center and founder of the Fairy Godmother Fund.

She married David E. Reavis on May 31, 1997, in Lawrence. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include her mother, Ozark, Mo.; a son, Todd A. Fitzpatrick, San Francisco; a stepson, Joel Reavis, Lawrence; three brothers, Clarence Brown, Manchester, Mich., Roger Brown, Houston, and Donald Brown, McLouth; and two sisters, Nina Halbrook, St. Louis, and Lucile Sieving, Des Moines, Iowa.

The family suggests memorials to the Fairy Godmother Fund, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
