Irene McNary

Mrs. McNary died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in San Antonio, from complications associated with a stroke.

She was born Nov. 24, 1916, in Reno County, Kan., the daughter of Earl and Rose Woolley Simmonds.

Mrs. McNary moved to Lawrence in 1956 from Larned. She managed the cosmetic department at Raney Hillcrest Drugstore, which her husband operated, until 1984. In 1990 they moved to San Antonio.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio. She served on the Salvation Army board and as treasurer of Chi Omega sorority while in Lawrence.

She married William McNary in 1948. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three children, Mardee Schaumlffel, Virginia Beach; Bill McNary, Seattle; and Dick McNary, San Antonio; two sisters, Elda Linderman, Stockton, Calif., and Vada Newton, Denton; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
