Truck runs into house; driver lands in jail

A Lawrence resident woke up Thursday to find a truck had crashed through the front of his single-story home in the 1600 block of Lindenwood Lane.

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical personnel work at the scene of the accident.

Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Pattrick said a 59-year-old Lawrence man drove his Chevy pickup into the house in eastern Lawrence just before 11 a.m.

A 45-year-old woman who lives in the home and was standing nearby at the time of the crash was injured, Pattrick said. The woman was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she was seen by doctors but then left against their advice, hospital officials said.

The truck driver, who left the crash scene, was later arrested at his home in the 1600 block of East 15th Street. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of operating under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident.
