Injury accidents

  • A two-vehicle accident at 6:40 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and West 27th Street resulted in one injury and another possible injury. A 1995 Mazda Protege driven by Wesley Warrior, 30, Lawrence, struck a 2003 Ford Ranger driven by Gary Stanwix, 58, Lawrence, while the Ranger was stopped at a three-way stop. Warrior was injured but drove himself home. Stanwix, who had possible injuries, drove himself to work, police said.
  • A tractor-trailer rolled onto its side at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday when its driver attempted to curve around North Iowa Street. The 1991 GMC tractor trailer, of Graham Shipby Truck Co., Lawrence, was northbound on North Iowa Street and started around a curve to head westbound where the street becomes Lakeview Road. The trailer struck a railroad crossing pole and rolled onto its right side, landing in the ditch. The driver, Dean Ruckman, 41, Topeka, was not injured, authorities said.
