Gail Dorothy Miller

? Services for Gail Dorothy Miller, 82, De Soto, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in De Soto. Burial will be in De Soto Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Olathe Medical Center.

She was born May 24, 1921, in Erwin, Tenn., the daughter of Grady and Nellie Hutchins. She moved to De Soto in 1964.

Mrs. Miller worked as a seamstress at Nat-Nast, which later became Swingster, in Bonner Springs, before she retired. She served as secretary for the union for many years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eudora and taught Sunday school there. She did charity work for the Veterans Affairs hospital.

She married David Miller on Aug. 3, 1940. Her husband and a son, Jimmy Miller, died earlier.

Survivors include four sons, Doug A. Miller, Erwin, Tenn., Donald A. Miller, Carl Junction, Mo., Dan A. Miller, Oak Grove, Mo., and Skeeter Miller, De Soto; two daughters, Joyce A. Major, Cottonwood, Ariz., and Elizabeth Sanders, Lake Lotawana, Mo.; a brother, Paul Hutchins, Erwin, Tenn.; five sisters, Thelma Querry and Gladys Miller, both of Erwin, Tenn., Peggie Brown, Yuma, Ariz., Margret Patterson, Valley, Neb., and Martha Simons, Lincoln, Neb.; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
