Five former Jayhawks will be honored by KU

Five more retired jerseys are expected to go up in Allen Fieldhouse next season. KU athletic director Lew Perkins reportedly has approved the addition of Bill Bridges, Walter Wesley, Dave Robisch, Bud Stallworth and Darnell Valentine.

Bridges and Wesley were KU standouts in the 1960s. Robisch and Stallworth were the leading scorers on KU’s 1971 Final Four team. Valentine, who played in the late ’70s, is the only Jayhawk who has led the team in scoring and assists three times.

Longtime KU booster Bernie Morgan of Prairie Village lobbied strongly to honor those former Jayhawks, touting them as “The Fabulous Forgotten Five.”
