Madeline Swanson Hoover

Graveside services for Madeline Swanson Hoover, 89, Prairie Village, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.

Mrs. Hoover died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Brighton Gardens in Prairie Village.

She was born Jan. 4, 1915, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Hulse) Swanson. She graduated from Kansas University and had been a resident of Lawrence.

Mrs. Hoover was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, the KU chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, La Sertoma, College Club and the University Women’s Club.

She married Ulice M. Hoover on Jan. 3, 1942. He died July 3, 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Hoover, Shawnee, and Meredith Oakes, Larkspur, Colo.; a sister, Muriel Oldberg, Kansas City, Mo.; and a granddaughter.
