Police investigating death of Haskell student

Lawrence police said Monday they were investigating the death of a Haskell Indian Nations University student whose body was discovered Sunday.

DeAnn B. Ridesatthedoor, 37, was found dead 9:40 a.m. Sunday inside a house in the 1600 block of West 21st Street.

Police Sgt. Mike Pattrick said Ridesatthedoor did not live at the home.
“A resident called after she was found unresponsive that morning,” Pattrick said.
Police are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death, but at this time no foul play is suspected.
According to Haskell University officials, Ridesatthedoor was a junior in the business administration program. She was also the mother of two small children.
The fire circle has been lit on the Haskell campus in honor of Ridesatthedoor. It will continue to burn for the next 24 hours.
Haskell released the following statement Monday afternoon about the student’s death:

“‘It is with great sadness that the Haskell familyourns the passing ofeAnn.It is always a tragedy to see a young life, full of hope and full of promise ended so suddenly. Our prayers are with her family, friends and childrenuring this difficult time,’states Dr. Karen Swisher, President.

“The Haskell Fire Circle will be lit for 24oursoday ineAnn’s honor. There willlso be aosary for hert thetidham Uniononight at:30 pm. Brother Joe of the Haskell Catholic Center will officiate.
