Baldwin, Tonganoxie win handily; Eudora, McLouth, Oskie knocked off

? Ottawa topped 40 points for the third time in four games Friday night and held off Kansas City Turner, 44-30.

“Going in at halftime we were up 17-15, and the second half was a shootout,” said Ottawa coach Pat Boeh, whose team improved to 4-0. “It was another good win on the road.”

Ottawa’s Dom Nation rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, and Jason Houston carried the ball 15 times for 79 yards and four TDs. Quarterback Gabe Sheffield passed for 112 yards and ran for a TD, and Matt Leecy had four receptions for 84 yards.

“It was a good night,” Boeh said. “A lot of people are helping us. The bottom line is our offensive line is doing a really good job right now.”

The Cyclones are averaging 38 points a game behind the line of left tackle Josh Rusk, left guard Michael Espinosa, center Beau Bemis, right guard Caleb Blakesley and right tackle John Casady.

Ottawa will play host Friday to Sumner Academy.

Baldwin 28, Louisburg 13

Louisburg — Baldwin (3-1) broke the game open with two quick scores in the third quarter.

Kyle Flory gave Baldwin a 21-13 lead with a one-yard TD run. The Bulldogs then stopped Louisburg on three plays, and Baldwin took over on the Wildcats’ 26 after a bad snap botched Louisburg’s attempt to punt. Micah Mason ran 26 yards on Baldwin’s next play to cap the scoring.

Mason rushed 17 times for 150 yards, 103 of them coming in the second half. Jason Kesinger completed nine of 14 passes for 91 yards.

Baldwin plays host Friday to Spring Hill.

Paola 27, Eudora 26

Paola — Eudora had no problems scoring touchdowns.

Two-point conversions were another story.

The Cardinals (3-1) scored on only one of their four point-after attempts and suffered their first loss of the season.

Eudora led 12-0 in the second quarter, but Paola closed the gap with Darren Domnanish’s 78-yard interception return. The Panthers then recovered two onside kicks in the third quarter, setting up a pair of touchdown runs by Josh Strong.

Eudora had a chance to tie the game at 20 after Mark Lister’s two-yard touchdown run, but the Cards’ two-point conversion run failed. EHS pulled ahead in the fourth quarter on Tyler Cleveland’s 20-yard TD pass to Josh Lauer, and Lister made it 26-20 with the two-point conversion.

Domnanish scored from three yards out in the final minute to rally Paola.

Cleveland passed for 134 yards and two TDs, and Brendan Jackson had 101 yards rushing on eight carries for Eudora.

Eudora will entertain Wellsville Friday.

Easton — Spencer Foster scored four touchdowns, and Pleasant Ridge’s defense kept McLouth off the scoreboard.

“They played pretty well defensively,” McLouth coach Harry Hester said. “We need to make some corrections and look forward to getting back on the field Friday and correcting those things.”

The Bulldogs (0-4) play host Friday to rival Oskaloosa.

Oskaloosa — Allen Schoonover ran for four touchdowns, leading Valley Falls to a rout.

Valley Falls (3-1) scored 28 points in the second quarter and led, 34-0, at halftime.

Todd Newell scored the lone Oskaloosa touchdown on a 78-yard kickoff return in the third quarter.

Newell and Matt Grigsby each had 10 tackles for the Bears, who amassed just 41 offensive yards.

Oskaloosa (0-4) travels Friday to McLouth.
