Hiawatha — Free State High's tennis team returned to Hiawatha Tuesday and snared a victory in the eight-team Hiawatha Invitational.
The tourney had been delayed by rain Sept. 13.
Marisa Steinbach went 4-1 and placed first in No. 1 singles. Kelsey Schelar went 3-2 and placed third at No. 2 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Andrea Koch and Rachel Koch went 5-0 and placed first. Jessie Luman and Bridget Lavaveshkul went 3-2 and placed second at No. 2 doubles.
"We played very well, especially our No. 1 singles and doubles," FSHS coach Jon Renberger said.
"We feel good about getting a victory and improving our level our level of play."
Atchison's Mount Saint Scholastica placed second at the tourney.
Free State will travel Saturday to Emporia, and then face Lawrence High in a dual Monday at LHS.
