Lartigue wins pair for LHS tennis

? Sydney Lartigue led the Lawrence High girls’ tennis squad in victories Monday at a quad at Topeka High.

Lartigue won two of three matches at No. 1 singles. The Lions’ other entrants each went 1-2: Sarah Wilson at No. 2 singles, Carrie Jones and Ashley Woodward at No. 1 doubles, and Katie Robertson and Shannon Wanna at No. 2 doubles.

Other squads participating were Topeka High, Topeka West and Washburn Rural.

“We didn’t play our best today,” LHS coach Dick Wedel said. “Each of the players had parts of matches when she played well and hustled, but overall today we needed to remember that shoes are made for moving, not just for fashion accessories.”

The Lions return to action Wednesday at the Topeka Invitational.
