Law enforcement report

  • Wakarusa Valley School students loading onto buses Thursday morning from the Easy Living Mobile Home Park, 3323 Iowa, found a case containing a BB gun and shells under a tree, near the mailboxes. The students told the bus driver and boarded the bus without incident, school officials said. The driver notified the bus company, which later informed Lawrence Police.
  • An unidentified body was found Thursday night in Douglas County. The sheriff’s office was initially called to 448 N. 1500 Road to investigate an abandoned vehicle, a sheriff’s spokesman said. No other information was available. The department is investigating.

Injury accidents

  • A one-vehicle accident Thursday morning near Wellsville left two Wichita people hospitalized. A 1995 Dodge car driven by Delbert Minard, 78, was northbound on Interstate 35 about 10:15 a.m. when Minard lost control of the car and rolled into the median, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report. Minard and passenger Helen Bland, 75, were transported to Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa. The hospital would not release the patients’ condition Thursday night.
