Langford still rehabbing right knee after surgery

Keith Langford practiced hard for close to three hours Monday afternoon.

Tuesday, Kansas University’s junior guard spent most of a two-hour practice receiving cold compression treatment on the sidelines.

“I have good days and bad days,” said Langford, who is steadily recovering from right arthroscopic knee surgery Sept. 30. “We had a solid three-hour practice and I played hard. The next day it’s a little sore, and we try to take it easy a bit.”

Langford tweaked the knee going for a loose ball at a practice last week, but the knee remains structurally fine.

“I’ll be 100 percent before the first game,” he said of Tuesday’s exhibition opener against EA Sports (7 p.m., Allen Fieldhouse).

Graves update: Jeff Graves didn’t practice Tuesday, but it wasn’t because of back spasms that have bothered him of late.

“Jeff took a personal day today to tend to personal business,” KU coach Bill Self said, noting Graves would return today.

Extra man: EA Sports All-Stars, the team that will play Kansas at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Allen Fieldhouse, will allow a student to suit up and join the team this year, as it did last year.

At 4:30 p.m. Friday at Watson Park, 7th and Tennessee, EA Sports representative Kyle Rohde will conduct a one-on-one tournament to choose a KU student who will dress for the exhibition team. Last year’s winner, Efe Ekpere, entered in the closing minutes and narrowly missed a three-point try.

Any male student is eligible to participate, but students who might want to enter walk-on tryouts for the KU team in the future may face eligibility difficulties if they make the EA team. For questions, e-mail Rohde at kylekansas@easportsrep.com.
