Cecil E. Berry

? Services for Cecil E. Berry, 86, Bonner Springs, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kan. Burial will follow in Bonner Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Berry died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Callaway County, Mo.

Mr. Berry worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps in Callaway County before joining the U.S. Army during World War II. He served from 1941 to 1946 and spent the last two years in an army hospital in the Philippines. He worked for more than 30 years at Manor Bakery and was a member of American Bakery and Confectionery Union. He was a lifetime member of American Legion.

He married Nelda Jean St. Cyr while in the Army. She died in 1946. He was married to Eava J. Berry for 51 years before she died on Nov. 27, 2001. An infant daughter, Cheryl Sue Berry, also died earlier.

Survivors include nine sons, Dennis, Topeka, Ronnie, Grain Valley, Mo., Michael Brooks, Keller, Texas, Patrick, Lawrence, Terry, Baldwin, Steve, Edwardsville, Glenn and Keith, both of Basehor, and David, Bonner Springs; six daughters, Elaine Berry, Lawrence, Kathy Berry-Lee, Linwood, Connie Penic, Brandon, Fla., Hope Higgins and Barbiee Mathia, both of Kansas City, Kan., and Karen Henson, Elsberry, Mo.; a brother, Paris E., Fulton, Mo.; a sister, Leota Huffman, Springfield, Mo.; 50 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs.
