Central United Methodist Church

Central United Methodist Church, 1501 Mass., will be host to “Trunk-N-Treat” from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday in the parking lot. Children are invited to come and enjoy safe treats at the church. Hot cider will be provided.

Clinton Parkway Assembly of God

Women’s ministries will have a craft and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God, 3200 Clinton Parkway. Proceeds will go toward missions projects.

A fall foliage bicycle tour will leave at 1 p.m. Sunday from the church and ride on an eight-mile loop. Participants should bring a bicycle, helmet and water bottle.

Steve Wilson, missionary to Chile, will share his experience at the 6:30 p.m. Sunday service.

First Christian Church

A pumpkin carving and painting party will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today in the old fellowship hall of First Christian Church, 1000 Ky.

Participants are asked to bring one pumpkin to carve or paint. Carving and painting supplies will be provided.

There will be snacks, games and crafts, and all pumpkins will be auctioned at 10:15 a.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall. Proceeds will benefit the children’s ministry.

A Christian literature group will meet from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at 2015 Stratford Road. Sections of the classic “Crime and Punishment” will be discussed.

First Regular Missionary Baptist Church

First Regular Missionary Baptist Church, 1646 Vt., will celebrate its 135th anniversary with activities this weekend and next week.

Debra Dandridge of Kansas University’s Spencer Library will be host to a display of historical church archives from noon to 2 p.m. today.

The Rev. Michael Williams, founder and pastor of Joy Tabernacle Baptist Church of Houston, will be the morning guest speaker and the revival messenger Sunday.

The Rev. David Lee and Guiding Star Baptist Church will be the afternoon guests at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

The anniversary celebration will culminate with revival services at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Ives Chapel United Methodist Church

The women of Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin will serve an Election Day chicken-and-noodle supper at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 4.

Lawrence Jewish Community Center

The 40th annual Blintz Brunch will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Lawrence Jewish Community Center, 917 Highland Drive.

Tickets cost $6.50 for a serving of blintzes, fruit and coffee.

The event will also feature an artisan Judaic market, a silent auction and homemade bake sale.

Morning Star Church

Morning Star Church, 998 N. 1771 Road, will be host to a “Harvest Stomp Party” at 6 p.m. Friday.

There will be activities for all ages, including face painting, hay rides, a moonwalk and cake walks.

Children are encouraged to come dressed in “happy” costumes — no witches, ghosts, ghouls or devils — for a masquerade parade.

The Rev. John and Pam McDermott will begin a six-week series on finding your true worth in God’s eyes at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Childcare will be provided.

A businessmen’s Bible study will be at 7 a.m. Thursdays at Panera Bread, 520 W. 23rd St.

Redeemer Lutheran Church

Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2700 Lawrence Ave., will have its annual fall craft sale from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8.

Baked goods, honey and crafts will be for sale.

The youth group will leave for Worlds of Fun at noon Sunday. Lunch will be provided. Participants are asked to bring money for drinks and arcade games throughout the day.

Seniors group will meet at 5:30 p.m. today.

St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church

A planning meeting for the annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass and celebration will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Simon Parish Center, 1234 Ky.

There will be a blessing of trick-or-treaters at 5 p.m. Friday. Treats will be handed out after the blessing.

There will be only one liturgy for the Solemnity of All Saints Nov. 1. It will be at 8 a.m.

The annual All Saints Bonfire will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Grob farm. The church bulletin has directions.

There will be no religious education classes this weekend because of fall break.

Junior high youth group members who have registered for the pumpkin carving fest will be at Pendleton’s farm from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today.

St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church

The Prayer Development Team will meet after the men’s breakfast Bible study at 8:45 a.m. Sunday at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Sixth St.

An in-gathering will take place at the 7:45 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday services. The children will wear Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat in the parking lot after each service.

A new class, Divorce Care, is at 4:30 p.m. Sundays. A class for new members begins 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

New Serendipity Groups are also beginning this week.

Stull United Methodist Church

The 13th annual Stull United Methodist Church fund-raiser will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at the church, 251 N. 1600 Road.

Freewill donations are requested for the pancakes-and-sausage fund-raiser, which will also feature a bake sale with homemade items.

A silent auction on special gift baskets will close at 12:30 p.m. Participants are welcome to donate items for the sale.

Proceeds will be used to refurbish the church’s stained-glass windows.

Trinity Lutheran Church

Thirteen young people will participate in 11 a.m. Sunday Confirmation services as part of Reformation observances at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H.

A reception at 9:45 a.m. will be held to honor the confirmands and their families.

As part of an annual stewardship campaign, members of the church will be visited in the next two weeks. Kevin Boatright will also lead the adult discussion on “Giving One’s Whole Life” at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the social room.

A video series for adults using Beth Moore’s “Breaking Free” study of the Book of Isaiah meets at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. Kelly Calvert is facilitator, with the Augsburg adult Bible study in the conference room.

“Getting to the Heart of Lutheranism” class meets at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall. The class will work from “The Beginner’s Guide to the Bible,” covering how the Bible developed, different types of writings, authority and interpretation of Scripture and using the Bible each day.

Children are invited to come in costume to a Halloween Party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the fellowship hall. Games, activities and snacks will be provided by the Young Families at Trinity.

Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence

The Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence, 1263 N. 1100 Road, will have a spiritual celebration from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Sunday on “Earth-based Spirituality.”

Andrew Suddith will present a program, “The Pros and Cons of GM Foods,” from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship.

West Side Presbyterian Church

The fourth in the Bible study series “Curing Affluenza” will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at West Side Presbyterian Church, 1204 Kasold Drive.

This week’s emphasis will be “Stuff: How Much Can I Have?” — a look at issues regarding how much can be kept, what can be spent on art and beauty and how to respond to people in need.
