Buffaloes squeak past Jayhawks volleyball

? Colorado eked out a 3-2 victory over the Kansas University volleyball squad Friday at Coors Athletic Center.

The Jayhawks lost, 31-29, 26-30, 30-26, 20-30, 15-13, and fell to 14-8 overall and 6-5 in the Big 12 Conference.

“It was a great match … we had the better numbers, and came out with a two-point loss,” KU coach Ray Bechard said. “I was pleased with our blocking — we’ve been working hard on that — and we had another balanced attack. We just couldn’t hold on in Game Five.”

The Buffaloes improved to 14-7 overall and 6-5 in the Big 12.

KU was again without freshman standout Janaina Correa, out since Oct. 4 because of an undisclosed injury.

Senior Sarah Rome led the Jayhawk offense with 20 kills, and added 14 digs. Sophomore Josi Lima had 16 kills and a career-high 19 digs, juniors Lindsey Morris and Ashley Michaels added 14 and 12 kills.

KU plays host to No. 8 Kansas State (19-3, 9-1) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Horejsi Center.
