Law enforcement report Burglaries and thefts reported
¢ Someone used a key to get into a safe at Ecumenical Christian Ministries, 1204 Oread Ave., and took more than $6,000 in cash and checks, according to a police report.
The incident happened either Wednesday or Thursday. The center is now missing more than six checks, most of them donations to the church, as well as at least $500 cash.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry.
¢ Someone took Elvis Presley memorabilia from a home in the 2000 block of Jenny Wren Road during a September burglary, according to a police report that wasn’t made public until Friday.
A 23-year-old woman and 57-year-old woman who live at the home reported that an Elvis bust, dolls, statue, lighter and picture were taken between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sept. 30. Also missing are an IBM laptop computer and a power drill.
¢ A 24-year-old Haskell Indian Nations University student reported her 2000 Dodge Neon missing early Thursday morning from the 2600 block of Iowa Street. She valued the car at $7,000.
¢ A 40-year-old Lawrence woman told police someone smashed the rear window of her car Wednesday morning in the 1100 block of Massachusetts Street and took a $1,200 laptop computer. The incident happened between 9:45 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.
