Bond

Roland “Bus” and Jeanne Bond, Overbrook, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 25 at Overbrook Methodist Church.

Roland Bond and Jeanne Kingery were married Oct. 23, 1953, in Overbrook.

Roland worked at Goodyear and was a truck salesman. Jeanne worked at O’Bryhim Thriftway in Overbrook.

Their children are Mike and Debbie Bond, Overbrook; Steve and Tammy Bond, Osage City; Pam and John Dickson, Manteca, Calif.; Cindy Elliott, Granbury, Texas; Jeff and Diane Bond, Lincoln, Neb.; Brenda Ford, Frisco, Texas; and the late Stanley Bond. The couple have 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

Stiles

Phil and Diane Stiles, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at First United Methodist Church, 10th and Vermont streets. During the reception in Brady Hall, the couple will renew their vows with the Rev. Sharon Howell officiating.

Phil Stiles and Diane Pichelman were married Oct. 31, 1953, at First United Methodist Church in Baldwin.

Phil is retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Diane is retired as church secretary at First United Methodist Church.

The couple’s children are Mark and Brenda Stiles, Prairie Village, and Chris and Melissae Stiles, Concordia. They have four grandchildren.

Hodges

Charles and Margaret Hodges, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at Steve’s Place, 31st and Louisiana streets.

Charles Hodges and Margaret Ann Gabriel were married Oct. 27, 1953, in Kansas City, Kan.

Their daughter Marilyn Colgan and two granddaughters will be reception hosts.

Charles worked for Constant and Kansas Construction companies. He also farms and raises cattle. Margaret worked for Douglas County for 30 years. She retired in 1998.

The couple request no gifts.

Landreth

Floyd and Donna Landreth, Lawrence, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.

Floyd E. Landreth and Donna Lee Van Meter were married Oct. 18, 1953, at the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.

Floyd is a 1946 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1946. He retired in 1989 after working 33 years for Kansas University’s traffic and security department.

Donna is a 1949 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School. She retired in 1995 after working 43 years as assistant credit manager for the Lawrence Paper Co.

The couple have a daughter, Donita Bouton, Lawrence, and two grandchildren.

Evans

Bob and Lydia Evans, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family in New York City.

Robert Evans and Lydia Spencer were married Oct. 20, 1943, at the Riverside Church in New York City, after Bob’s graduation from Midshipmen’s School.

After raising their family in Great Bend, they moved to Lawrence, where Bob continued his work as a professional engineer with the firm of Evans, Bierly and Hutchinson. Both retirees now enjoy traveling, visiting family and friends and participating in programs and activities of their church.
