KU lab evacuated when students pass out

A Kansas University laboratory was evacuated Tuesday morning after two students lost consciousness and a third became ill within five minutes.

Authorities were called to the scene around 8:30 a.m. to the second floor of Malott Hall. The lab was evacuated.

Lt. Schuyler Bailey of the KU Public Safety Office said testing by KU’s Environmental Health and Safety Office showed no hazardous fumes in the lab, and that the illnesses apparently were a coincidence.

Neither of the students required medical treatment.
